Maybe it's Jesus. Maybe it's whether any of it actually happened, or what it's supposed to mean. Maybe something happened in your life and you've started wondering.
Bring your questions, and your scepticism. Someone near you is happy to open the Bible with you and talk it through — once, or over a few months. However long it stays useful.

Locals, mostly.
People who live around where you do, have ordinary weeks, and can talk about this without making it strange. They're not paid to recruit you and there's no target they're working towards.
Some have read the Bible their whole lives. Some came to it late and still find most of it surprising. All of them have sat where you're sitting and had the same questions.

The obvious question
Yeah, we're Christians.
Some of us work for churches. You'd have found that out over the first coffee anyway, so there it is. For the record we're from mainstream churches — Anglican, Baptist, Church of Christ, that sort of thing.
But this isn't church, and nobody's trying to get you there. It's reading a book and talking about it, as much or as little as you want.

The honest answers.
Do I need to believe something?
No. Most people who start reading the Bible haven't decided what they think, and plenty finish still undecided. Come as you are and see what you make of it.
I've never opened a Bible. Is that a problem?
You're in good company. You don't need any background, and nobody will assume you have one. If you'd like a Bible, the person you meet can sort you out with one.
Is someone going to try to convert me?
Fair question. No. The people who do this have their own convictions and won't pretend otherwise, but the point is that you read it and reach your own conclusions. If you decide it isn't for you, that's a real answer and nobody will chase you.
Where would we actually meet?
Wherever suits you — a cafe, a park, somewhere local. If meeting in person feels like a lot to start with, say so and a call or a few messages first is completely normal.
Are you a church?
No. Bible Discovery is run by a Christian not-for-profit. We work with local churches and the people who do this go to one, but you don't have to, and nobody will try to get you there.
What if my questions are awkward?
Then they're probably the interesting ones. Suffering, violence in the Old Testament, whether any of it happened — these come up constantly and they're better raised than politely skipped.
How much time does it take?
A first catch-up is usually an hour or so. After that it is whatever the two of you decide — some people meet once and leave it there, others keep going for a few months. Both are normal.
What does it cost?
Nothing. There's no charge and there's no collection plate.
